The Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail is yet another awesome outdoor experience located at Lake Mead. You can check out the very same trail that was used to transport both men and materials to the once named Boulder Dam while it was under construction from 1931 – 1936. Now, popularly known as Hoover Dam, this trail takes will take you all the way there if you so desire. Lee Canyon provides the perfect seasonal getaway to play in the great outdoors where winter sports rule! During the summer months, this majestic alpine region is a nice place to get away and beat the heat as the temperature is generally about 25 degrees cooler which makes the outdoor experience even better. Mt. Charleston/Spring Mountains, neighbor of Lee Canyon also shares this beautiful alpine region but provides different amenities to include lodging, camping, etc., however each is unique and has something special to offer everyone. Red Rock Canyon, just a short drive from the Las Vegas Strip, sits just outside the city and offers you a chance to see some awesome rock formations, natural wildlife, and a cool visitor’s center with a lot of good stuff. This area also has many popular hiking trails for all levels, so if you truly want a chance to get away – check it out! Adjacent to Red Rock Canyon, lies Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, where you can find historic sites, Lake Harriet, beautiful scenery, a great picnicking/play area, summer events; and all just a quick trip from The Strip! Not far away from the Las Vegas Strip and well worth the drive will bring you to Valley of Fire State Park, one of the most popular attractions in the area. Valley of Fire features; camping, hiking, history, spectacularly colorful rock formations, beautiful vistas, wildlife, and more. Many of you who have never seen it, probably have, but weren’t aware of it as Valley of Fire has been used for many film projects over the decades, and is quite a popular location for car commercials – don’t miss it!
